If you want intense nightlife, go to Cancún. Huatulco is more laid back; however there are some spots to enjoy a night out. It’s important to note that no one in Mexico starts his or her nocturnal pursuits until 10:00 P.M. or later; midnight is a more common starting time.
The clubs stay open until 3:00 or 4:00 A.M. or later if customer demand is there. If you're taking an American style early supper, you’ll find the area to be ‘dead’ - -the locals often don't dine until 9:00 or later and then immediately go out in search of nocturnal joys.
So take up the local customs while you're here: go scuba diving in the morning. Eat lunch and take a long siesta (nap) in the early afternoon, and then go shopping, and then take a late supper. Rest up a bit more after supper and then hit the streets.
Don't skip that afternoon nap--you're going to need it! The bars and nightclubs each are different in their own sense. You can find the bar that features sports on a TV – (a good spot to watch Monday Night Football if you just can’t miss that big game).
Live tropical music pours out of some of the establishments. Some places are located on the upper level of the plaza, so you can people watch while enjoying your drink and the music.
Alcoholic beverages are not the only things offered to quench your thirst: you’ll find restaurants that have superb fruit-flavored waters, ice cream and paletas, which is a gourmet popsicle made with whole fruits and fresh ingredients.
If you prefer the “up from the beach” atmosphere, you’ll find it at a variety of nightclubs. The sound of 70s and 80s music, reggae or today’s popular rock songs can be found blaring throughout the bars in the early morning, much to the delight of partygoers. If you like to dress up and go out to boogie, there are a couple of nice discos in the area.
